What is Heart of Hospice?

The “Heart of Hospice” Volunteer Program is a vital part of Community Hospice Care and offers a wonderful opportunity for Volunteers to make new friends, lasting memories, and most importantly to make a difference in the patients’ lives.

Volunteers offer a wealth of services to the patients, families, the hospice team and the community.

Volunteer services offered to patients and families:

  • Caregiver relief (allowing the caregiver to leave for doctor’s appointments, etc.)
  • Providing an extra measure of companionship to the patient
  • Running errands
  • Performing simple chores
  • Assisting the patient with writing letters or sending cards to friends and family
  • Reading to the patient
  • Performing simple home maintenance
  • Participating in our Bereavement Program by making phone calls and simply listening

Other Volunteer activities:

  • Administrative assistance with special projects
  • Assisting with fundraisers and special events
  • Serving refreshments or greeting guests at the Annual Memorial Service
