Hospice Volunteer Opportunities
What is Heart of Hospice?
The “Heart of Hospice” Volunteer Program is a vital part of Community Hospice Care and offers a wonderful opportunity for Volunteers to make new friends, lasting memories, and most importantly to make a difference in the patients’ lives.
Volunteers offer a wealth of services to the patients, families, the hospice team and the community.
Volunteer services offered to patients and families:
- Caregiver relief (allowing the caregiver to leave for doctor’s appointments, etc.)
- Providing an extra measure of companionship to the patient
- Running errands
- Performing simple chores
- Assisting the patient with writing letters or sending cards to friends and family
- Reading to the patient
- Performing simple home maintenance
- Participating in our Bereavement Program by making phone calls and simply listening
Other Volunteer activities:
- Administrative assistance with special projects
- Assisting with fundraisers and special events
- Serving refreshments or greeting guests at the Annual Memorial Service
